About SL8R

Hello friends! My name is Chelsea Slater and I am starting my 6th year teaching high school English. Originally from California, I received a Bachelor's degree in English Education from San Diego State University, then went on to receive my Master's in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, I am finishing up my second Master's in Experimental Humanities at New York University developing a pedagogical frame work based in friendship. I enjoy making learning fun for young people and questioning everything! My job is to provide young people with the space, support, and comfort they need in order to take risks academically to grow as readers, writers, speakers, and English language users, while simultanteulsy constantly building on their prior genius to co-create our learning community where we go beyond "English" to think critically about what it means to be alive.
